Rose Wallace

The discarded object; whether it be a vintage domestic item, a mudlarked find, even a piece of plastic packaging are all relevant to my creative process: to make comment on mass consumerism within contemporary society. I believe this loads the artwork with wider questions relating to consumerism, authenticity, status and ownership. The traditional Staffordshire Flatback is my chosen narrative medium to convey this notion. Press-moulded in Creamware from original casts of objects, traditional Staffordshire glazes. Based in Oxford, in addition to her own ceramic artwork, Rose teaches pottery at Abingdon & Witney College.
