Combining working at the wheel with hand-building, Amanda-Sue Rope creates constructed vessels in red and white stoneware clay. Inspired by geometry and the richness of the built environment, recent work has focused on themes of stacking and assembling disparate forms to create hybrid, architectonic vessels with rhythmic textured surfaces.
Colours range from the earthy and elemental to spots of saturated acid and pastel hues using a range of oxides, washes and engobes. Glaze is applied to the inside of the vessel to distinguish the interior and exterior.
