Mallams’ Modern Art & Design department has become a firm favourite in the auction calendar, attracting collectors from across the UK and around the world.
We are delighted to support the Oxford Ceramic Fair in the beautiful city that has been our home since 1788.
Holding two sales each year, in spring and early December, our auctions bring together paintings, sculpture and studio ceramics by leading Modern and Post-War artists, alongside works by some of the most celebrated names in British studio pottery.
Our sales regularly achieve notable results, including the rediscovery of a long-lost painting by Christopher Nevinson, which sold for £135,000, and the sale in June 2025 of a private collection of 21 pots by John Ward (1938–2023).
A more recent highlight was a tin-glazed earthenware bowl by Oxford’s own master potter, Alan Caiger-Smith (1930–2020), which achieved an auction record of £5,200 in December 2025.

From Monday September 28th Oxfordshire County Council have replaced the Congestion Charge with a new traffic filter system.
The best way to approach the ceramics fair is to use the ring road and head into Oxford on the A4144 Woodstock Road then follow the signs to the parking area.
Better still you can park at the Peartree Park and Ride and hop on a number 300 bus.
