Leonie Stanton makes sculptural thrown ceramics, often double walled, looking at the interaction between form, volume, geometry and surface texture. To achieve this, the clay is mixed with handmade grog or molochite, thrown and inlaid, and finally polished after firing. She works in series, making collections of responses, trying to capture a tension between the scale, intimacy and the solidity of the form.
