Peter Bodenham

The vessels and sculptural clay shelves are made in response to a sense of site and place. The creative process often begins with collecting ocean plastic and geological samples from the West Wales coast. The plastic objects are either recycled or repurposed into small sculptures. These form foundational inspiration for the ceramic practice, transposed and translated into ceramic vessels or functional wall works. The making processes include extruding clay through metal dies then assembling cut up clay components, throwing vessels on the potter’s wheel then deconstructing the vessel, reconstructing and applying dry and shiny glazes.
