Shirley Vauvelle

Shirley’s hand built stoneware sculptures convey her emotional connection to nature, with scale, power and vulnerability in her natural environment. She communicates through shape, surface, layering texture, colour in an abstract way, incorporating smaller porcelain elements that can be playfully altered to change the mood of each piece, often interspersed with found materials.

Shirley has been practising working with clay for 15 years, self taught. She comes from a textile educational background, as well as having the experience of running her own crafts council selected gallery for 10 years. She has shown at Earth & Fire in 2019 among other events.
